Offshore Wind

SEWC hosted a conference on September 23rd around offshore wind with the North Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce. More than 30 attendees representing federal agencies, developers, non-profits, and academia gathered to hear panels present on topics ranging from interest in the areas off the coast of South Carolina, local benefits and support for a wind farm, and considerations for building off the coast of South Carolina. The conference concluded with a robust discussion of the topics considered during the day as well as next steps stakeholders could take to leverage the momentum the conference generated. SEWC's Program Associate, Adam Forrer, moderated a panel on general updates while SEWC's President, Katharine Kollins, moderated the "Considerations" panel which looked at some of the difficulties building in the region. The conference was well received and serves as an important initial step towards building an offshore wind farm in North Myrtle Beach.
