The mission of the Southeastern Wind Coalition is to advance the land-based and offshore wind industry in ways that result in net economic benefits to industry, utilities, ratepayers, and citizens of the Southeast.
The Coalition’s Utility Advisory Group (UAG) has representation from major utilities in the region. The UAG will provide input into Coalition activities and discuss options for advancing the coastal and offshore wind industry that focus on delivering net benefits to utility shareholders, citizens/ratepayers, and the wind industry. more>>
The Southeast is home to a highly skilled manufacturing and maritime workforce and employs thousands of people in the land-based wind industry, despite having no utility-scale wind energy facilities. One of the Coalition’s early efforts will be a Supply Chain Asset Mapping Project, which will involve a comprehensive review and summary of existing wind industry supply chain assets in the region. Add your company to the online database. more>>
The Southeastern Wind Coalition has been selected to lead the new U.S. Department of Energy's Southeast Wind Energy Resource Center, covering an 11-state region. The Center will be focused on providing fact-based, unbiased information about wind energy's costs and benefits to stakeholders and decision makers. Key management partners in the Center include James Madison University, NC State University, Clemson University, Coastal Carolina University, Georgia Tech, the Florida Energy Systems Consortium, and Navigant Consulting.
We will soon be building an Affiliate Network to broaden outreach throughout the region. If your organization is engaged on clean energy issues in the region and you're interested in joiing the Affiliate Network, please contact us!
