Since we began in 1978, our community—our members, partners, and donors—have triumphed in the face of opposition and become stronger and smarter in the process. It’s past time for a celebration of how far we, as a community, have come. We can’t do it without you. Join us for an evening of food, drinks, and dancing as we look back on the achievements of the last 40 years and look ahead at our big plans for the future.

Improving project economics and establishing robust state policies led to a surge in offshore wind activity in 2018. At the end of the year, project developers had a potential offshore wind pipeline of over 25,500 MW. Project developers expect six offshore wind projects totaling 2,101 MW to be operational by 2023. It is clear that companies see enormous business potential in developing offshore wind projects. The AWEA Offshore WINDPOWER Conference program has cultivated a dedicated and thriving global community of top developers and experts, making it the largest and most successful gathering of offshore wind energy professionals in the United States. As more steel goes in the water, this event will only continue to grow in value and scope.

Southeast Renewable Energy Summit

Location: Atlanta, GA

The renewable energy market in the Southeast continues to flourish. According to the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy’s (SACE) Solar in the Southeast report, Florida led a 65% growth surge in 2018. And that expansion is only expected to accelerate, with the current 10,579 MW projected to near 20,000 by 2022. However, the renewable energy market in the Southeast is significantly changing. South Carolina’s Energy Freedom Act is charging up development there, while corporate customers throughout the region are pushing for policy changes to better support their sustainability and energy cost reduction strategies. Utilities throughout the region are ramping up major procurements and green tariff programs, while new types of investors and financial structures are significantly changing project dynamics. Developers and suppliers must work closely with utilities, consumers and financiers to create innovative, economically viable and ultimately profitable projects.
