Lisa M. Hicks-Thomas
Senior Policy Advisor, Dominion Energy
Lisa Hicks-Thomas is a native of the Hampton Roads area of Virginia. A graduate of the University of Virginia with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history, she received her law degree from the law school at the College of William and Mary and returned to her hometown of Chesapeake to join the local prosecutor’s office.
In 2000, she joined the office of the Attorney General in Richmond to lead the newly created computer crime unit. In that role, Lisa prosecuted many cases across the Commonwealth, including child exploitation cases and the first felony spam trial in the United States. She also was crossed designated as a Special Assistant United States Attorney for both the eastern and western districts of Virginia. She rose through the ranks of the Attorney General‘s office, ultimately becoming the Deputy Attorney General for transportation, real estate, environmental and technology.
In 2009, governor-elect Bob McDonnell asked Lisa to serve in his cabinet as the Commonwealth of Virginia’s Secretary of Administration. She held this role during the McDonnell administration from 2010 to 2014.
In April 2014, Lisa joined Dominion Energy as a Senior Advisor for Administrative Services and Strategic Projects. In her 10 years with Dominion, she’s held many leadership roles including Director – Diversity and Workforce Development, Director - Ethics and Compliance, Deputy General Counsel – Regulatory Compliance and most recently Senior Policy Advisor – Corporate Affairs.
Lisa has served on numerous boards and commissions, including the Richmond Police Foundation, the United Way’s Women’s Leadership Council, the YWCA Board of Governors, the Richmond SPCA Board of Directors, the VCU Health System Board of Directors, and the Virginia Commission on Higher Education Board Appointments.
