Madelyn Smith

LOUISIANA PROGRAM MANAGER

Madelyn joined the Southeastern Wind Coalition in July 2025 as the organization's Louisiana Program Manager. Madelyn is passionate about building a more vibrant and equitable Louisiana. She specializes in translating complex environmental topics for diverse audiences and convening stakeholders to develop solutions that balance environmental stewardship with economic opportunity.

As Louisiana Program Manager, Madelyn leads the Coalition's efforts to advance wind energy development across Louisiana through strategic stakeholder engagement, communications, and coalition building.

Prior to joining SEWC, Madelyn served as Executive Director of Common Grain Alliance, a network of grain farmers, processors, and end users working to build a more regenerative and equitable regional grain economy in the Mid-Atlantic. She also worked as a mediator at Meridian Institute, where she facilitated multi-stakeholder initiatives advancing solutions to environmental challenges. Her projects included developing economic development strategies for Louisiana's seafood industry and advancing bipartisan agriculture conservation policy.  Madelyn has a B.S. in Natural Resource Management from Louisiana State University.

In her spare time, Madelyn enjoys growing, preparing, and eating local food, making quilts from thrifted fabric, dancing to live music, and cycling.
