Raleigh, NC — Today, the Southeastern Wind Coalition released the following statement from Katharine Kollins, SEWC President, on the North Carolina General Assembly’s vote to override Governor Stein’s veto of SB 266:

“The decision to override Governor Stein’s veto of SB 266 marks a serious setback for North Carolina’s clean energy and economic future. By dismantling the carbon reduction framework established in House Bill 951, our legislators have effectively sent a very dangerous signal to investors and developers in North Carolina’s clean energy sector.  The uncertainty created by this bill will delay the deployment of reliable clean energy technologies and risk massive losses of jobs and investment opportunities.”

“This decision undermines North Carolina’s opportunity to strengthen our grid and compete for emerging industries like wind and solar at a time when reliable, affordable, and diversified energy resources are more critical than ever.”
