On August 22, 2025, Ørsted’s Revolution Wind project off the coast of Massachusetts and Rhode Island was issued a stop-work order over “national security” interests.
Raleigh, N.C. - The Southeastern Wind Coalition (SEWC) released the following statement from SEWC President Katharine Kollins after the Department of the Interior issued a stop work order:
“At a time when energy independence & affordability are shared priorities across political lines, halting construction on the Revolution Wind project puts our entire energy sector, as well as the homes and businesses it powers, at risk. This decision kills jobs, contracts, and investments that power our U.S infrastructure. This offshore wind project is the definition of an immediate solution to help stabilize electricity prices while meeting electricity demand.”
